Susan is a senior management and marketing consultant. For 30+ years, she has helped a broad range of
corporate and nonprofit clients to successfully define and achieve their strategic development
objectives. A skilled strategist and powerful communicator, she has demonstrated the ability to rapidly
gain insight into both internal cultures and external audiences.

An HIV/AIDS volunteer since the early years of the epidemic, Unger first served on Desert AIDS Project’s
board of directors from 2003 to 2008. In 2005, she founded 100 Women, a DAP major donor program
benefitting the health and well-being of women and children. From 2012 to 2017, she served as the
project director for Get Tested Coachella Valley, DAP’s groundbreaking public health initiative dedicated
to dramatically reducing the spread of HIV by making HIV testing routine medical practice, and by
ensuring linkage to care. She led the research, design, and planning of the initiative, successfully
coordinating the efforts of full-time staff, volunteers, and a coalition of more than 100 community
partners.

In 2014, Unger was tapped as one of seven Influential Women in the Valley by Desert Outlook magazine.
In 2008—and again in 2024—she was honored with a DAP Health Steve Chase Humanitarian Award.
Susan is delighted to be re-joining the DAP Health board of directors in 2025.
